Atlanta’s first ‘true spa, real spa’ – B2C
Founded in1982 by Sydell and Arthur Harris, and their children, Karen Harris and Richard Harris, Spa Sydell was launched as Atlanta’s first true full-service day spa with a single location in Buckhead, GA. Today, the successful family-owned day spa business has seven locations across metro-Atlanta and more than 500 employees. Spa Sydell contracted with Marketing Expectations, Inc. in early 2008 to handle their public relations and writing needs with a goal to increase awareness of their brand in a increasingly cluttered market emphasizing their unique services, new product launches and special community promotions.

Results: Marketing Expectations, Inc. (MEI) has generated on average 2 – 3 press releases/per month to the news media garnering exposure to more than 1.5 million readers through PR coverage of target print media (magazine/newspaper) and online coverage including articles in Points North magazine; Atlanta Journal & Constitution; national women’s magazine - Allure; Northside Woman; Atlanta Business Chronicle; Northside Neighbor and Atlanta Woman to name just a few. Crafting c0mpelling press releases that touched on seasonal offerings, local and national spa/relaxation trends, and unique community partnerships, PR programming initiated by MEI on behalf of Spa Sydell helped to further solidify Atlanta’s first ‘true spa, real spa’ brand reputation in the Atlanta market and generate a steady increase in traffic at each of the seven locations across Atlanta.

The Ovarian Cancer Institute

Ovarian Cancer Institute (non-profit)

The Ovarian Cancer Institute (OCI) was established in 1999 as a 501 (c) 3, not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding a reliable early diagnostic test for ovarian cancer and developing effective therapies for the disease. The OCI lab is located on the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta, GA. OCI hired Marketing Expectations, Inc.(MEI) to educate prospective donors, news media and the general population – particularly women – to recognize and respond to the early signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer in order to help diagnose this disease – often known as the silent killer – earlier to save lives. www.ovariancancerinstitute.org

Results: Local and national women’s magazines, newspapers and broadcast stations including: Town & Country; Vive Magazine; Atlanta Woman; The Sunday Paper; AJC; Jezebel; Good Day Atlanta; and WSB-TV2; brought much needed attention to OCI that resulted directly to increased donations and important education of signs and symptoms of the disease by highlighting inspirational ovarian cancer survivor stories, significant milestones achieved in ovarian cancer research and major new fundraising initiatives for the research program.

SOHO HERO was created in 1997 by young entrepreneur Chris Kouloukas who discovered that small office and home office business professionals had no place to go for meetings and other business services. The SOHO HERO Business and Meeting Center concept provides a contemporary new resource for business owners and professionals who work from home offices or small offices, telecommute or are simply in need of private, professional meeting or conference rooms to meet with clients or fellow employees.
